My name is Maria. Maria Lurdiana Alves Tejas. My name is a tribute to my grandmother, one of the great women in my family.
Besides her, my mother was also a strong and creative woman. She was a dancer.
I learned to dance from my mother before I even learned to exist.
I remember being 3 years old, dancing to a folk song in Rondônia. The simple things in nature have been my personal universe ever since.
At the age of fifteen, I started studying belly dance with my mother, who taught me the basics. Later, I sought out further training, taking courses to perfect my skills.
My family moved to Santa Catarina, and it was there that I learned and taught Jazz and Ballet for years.
I delved into self-awareness through yoga. Since I was 20 years old, to be more precise.
Seven years ago, during one of the most turbulent times of my life in Brazil, I was almost giving up on dance, until I received an unusual invitation: to come dance in Egypt.
That was the turning point for everything I live today.
Giving my best and striving to do better was all I thought about.
I had never thought of coming to Egypt. Life guided me here.
I carry Brazil with me every step of the way, even though Cairo is my home.
My journey in Egypt wasn't an easy path, but I persisted in my passion. As a teacher of belly dance, ballet, and jazz in Brazil, I always dreamed of pursuing a professional career in the Arab world.
It wasn't the destination I chose; it was the destination that chose me.
Those who see me with 2.8 million followers, and achieving my dream of living from my art, might imagine it was easy, but it wasn't. Before coming here, I was preparing for a career in holistic therapy. I studied Reiki, aromatherapy, and considered courses in Naturology. I even considered giving up on dance.
Despite all the difficulties, I continued my career, persisting in what I believed I had to do.
I had to work hard to get to where I am. Having my family's pride and the love of my fans are the best things in my career.
